TEDxFondduLac planned for August

FOND DU LAC – TEDx, an event known for spreading ideas with click-worthy videos and slick seminars, will soon arrive in Fond du Lac.

A group of local organizers recently received approval to bring TEDxFond du Lac, an offshoot of TED, which stands for Technology Entertainment Design, here Aug. 19, at the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, 51 Sheboygan St.

The daylong get-together features speakers that explore a still-to-be-determined theme from an array of angles. These concise talks are then posted online, and have gained fame for their clarity.

Sarah Spang, an organizer of the event, said a group of local stakeholders navigated TED’s extensive vetting process to the bring the event to Fond du Lac. The group requires that local officials follow and extensive rule book and seek its approval before launching the event.

More details will take shape in the coming months, Spang said, as the group hones in on a theme and recruits speakers.
